Congrats to Chef Diana!
GrowingGreat congratulates our friend, Chef Diana Stavaridis, who was mentioned in CBS’s article Best Up & Coming Female Chefs In Los Angeles. The article explains that “Diana was tapped to helm Manhattan Beach’s Manhattan House, using her accumulated knowledge of everything from fine dining to local farming. Diana is also deeply involved with the community garden program, Growing Great, where she spends her free time helping local children learn the benefits of eating what you grow. She received the Rising Star Chef of Los Angeles award from StarChefs, and has appeared on several television shows such as Food Networks “The Best Thing I Ever Ate,” as a guest judge on “The Next Food Network Star.””
Chef D, as her friends call her, has been involved with GrowingGreat since early 2015. With the help of Pacific Elementary students, Chef D planted a garden at Pacific and is growing vegetables and herbs for her Manhattan House restaurant. Pacific 4-5 graders met with the chef to discuss kids menu ideas and got to tour the restaurant before it opened. Pacific students absolutely love learning from and working with Chef D in the garden.
Chef D was one of the featured chefs at GrowingGreat’s May 2015 Farm to Table Benefit. She has agreed to share with us her yummy recipe for Beet Carpaccio, which can be found on our 2015 Farm to Table event page under the “Featured Recipe” link.
We would like to thank Chef D for her continued generosity and dedication to GrowingGreat!
