Composting for Community with GrowingGreat

GrowingGreat’s mission to empower young people to make healthy food choices through hands-on science and garden education comes to life at Environmental Charter Middle School – Inglewood where students are taking the lead on diverting waste through composting and building inter-school and community collaboration. Through their work using 3-bin, worm and pit compost methods, students engage in hands-on exploration of the circular economy and enrich both their campus garden spaces and the community garden spaces surrounding the school. At the end of this year, after months of hard work, students sifted compost and distributed it to three GrowingGreat educators who work in garden spaces with PreK-6th grade students in Los Angeles Unified School District schools.
