Hello from Kristina Halverson, Nutrition & Garden Education Specialist

Hi! My name is Kristina Halverson and I am so excited to begin the school year as a member of the GrowingGreat team! Before pursuing a career in nutrition, I was an elementary school teacher in New Orleans. In my classroom, it didn’t take long for me to see how important it was for our students to not only get a great education, but to also eat well and learn healthy behaviors as early on as possible. As a result, I went into public health and earned my registered dietitian credential in order to promote health and nutrition in schools. After learning more about GrowingGreat, I was immediately drawn to their work because of their strong community involvement at each school site and their creative use of STEM education in the garden. I look forward to learning more about how to empower and excite students to not only be healthy, but to also think like a scientist in the process! I am so excited to join this team and to start working with you and all of our students!
