GrowingGreat and Del Monte Foods Launch National Nutrition & STEM Education Program

GrowingGreat is thrilled to announce a comprehensive, national partnership with Del Monte Foods, Inc. Del Monte is sponsoring GrowingGreat Veggies & Fruit: a National STEM Education Program, expanding our hands-on science and nutrition activities from Southern California to science centers, children’s museums and zoos across the country. Together, we will transform gardens into outdoor STEM labs that empower children to make healthy food choices. GrowingGreat and Del Monte share a deep commitment to healthy fruits and vegetables, healthier families and a healthier planet.

After an extensive national search, Del Monte chose GrowingGreat due to our pioneering success in Los Angeles, our commitment to hands-on STEM education, and our ability to impact thousands of children nationwide through strong existing partnerships with science centers.

Del Monte Foods’s sponsorship supports GrowingGreat’s leadership of a group of eight education partners implementing nutrition and STEM programs at: Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, Carnegie Science Center, Detroit Zoo, Discovery Center, Discovery Place Kids, Marbles Kids Museum, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and Saint Louis Science Center. Impact results will be shared at national conferences and webinars hosted by the Association of Science and Technology Centers.

During this time of growth, GrowingGreat remains equally committed to the 15,000 children in Los Angeles we impact each year, 65% in under-resourced communities. We are grateful to the many donors who continue to make that possible -— especially for the members of our new Founder’s Circle fundraising program. The Founder’s Circle celebrates major donors who have been with us throughout GrowingGreat’s twenty-plus-year history —  Peggy & Tim Curry, Clare & Tim Flynn, Cindy & David Hoag, Corina & David McGovern, Jan & Chet Pipkin, Lori & Kyle Sherman and Amy Watson Bean.

The support of our entire community is more important than ever so we can sustain our impact close to home while we share our home-grown passion for healthy eating with children across the country. Please consider supporting us with a generous donation in our upcoming fundraising drive.
